Nepal Geological Society (NGS), National Disaster Risk Reduction and management Authority (NDRRMA) and Nepal Hydrogeological Association (NHA) jointly organized a one-day symposium in association with MOHA, DMG, DWRI, DOED, UNDP, TU, NSET, DPNET and NTB to celebrate the IDDRR-2021 keeping its high spirit with grand success. International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction aims to promote a global culture of disaster reduction, including disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness. The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction was started in 1989, after a call by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) for a day to promote a global culture of risk-awareness and disaster reduction. In 2009, the UNGA officially designated the day of 13th October as the date to commemorate the Day for IDDRR. Every year UN announces the special theme to celebrate world wide International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR). The theme for the year 2021 is: ‘substantially enhance international cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risks and disaster losses’.
